When I meet people that have not left their village or city to explore what is out in this big wide world, well I am bemused. I often wonder what it is that stops them. I understand that people have commitments and we are not all the same. The thing is travel is so inspiring. Travel, to me, has become the normal because I work for cruise lines writing, editing and proofing on ships. I know that I am lucky. I was a business analyst who was made redundant and had a lovely opportunity to travel the world. I don’t seem to be able to stop now.
The thing that I have found is that the more I travel the more I want to travel because it is so inspirational. This world is full of numerous cultures, foods and beautiful places. Sometimes when I am off on an enthused rant about places like Antarctica or Bora Bora, I watch people look at me with a bemused look on their face. They don’t get me and I don’t get them. So I wonder whether travel is in the blood, or embedded in the soul. I have to admit there are years when I liked to feel safe and in routine but doesn’t that get tiresome? You look at the same walls, the same people and listen to the same politics within a corporation. So… what do you do? Well you book a holiday. You find a reason to really experience life and then what do you do? You get out there and bloody live it, enjoy it and make that experience worth every moment. Alternatively you could sit watching a soap opera filled with people pretending to be people they are not… Hmmm. Life or an illuminated box?
The way I see it – for me: I came to this planet to live and what better way to be inspired by what the planet, the cultures and life has to offer!
Dooooooooooooooooooo it! Looooooooooove it and Experrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrience it!
