Michelle Dry's Children's Books

Sooooooo life has been busy as usual and The Female Rising books have been rising in sales. Wonderful eh? Plus I have had some lovely feedback regarding them, which makes writing them so worthwhile. At the same time Cruise Ship Creatures has surpassed all sales expectations and some rather random events have confirmed that life has a plan.

Imagine this: a shippy colleague from a few years ago got in contact because a friend of his bought him Cruise Ship Creatures. That friend was unaware that he and I were friends. What makes it even funnier is ‘the Regina and Vagina’ incident at the Captain’s formal night where an old chap found himself rather amusing and shouted out vagina during pre-dinner drinks. Anyway, my ex-colleague and I had laughed so hard about the Captain’s embarrassment that we had to leave the room. We were crying with laughter and the guests were a little concerned (I know that is very mature!) This little beauty was referenced in the book, so my ex-colleague was astounded how the book triggered his memories.

Other than that, Cruise Ship Creatures is in audio production. Stockton Harris delivers the book so well. Every time I receive a chapter I get so excited because he is so perfect with his comical timing. Admittedly I now write some of my books with the intention to make him laugh so hard. There are times where he has to walk around the house because he is in hysterics. He often sends me the outtakes, which again has me in streams of tears. At the same time The Female Rising Audio book is complete and going through production checks before release.

At the moment I am writing a children’s book because I am feeling the need for play. Writing ‘grown-up’ books is good, yet I have to write in cycles. I write a Children’s book, a non-fiction and then a comedy book. Although I sometimes dip between them to shake things up. In fact the comedy book I have drafted is a follow on from Cruise Ship Creatures about gyms. I will post a sample in the next blog.

Other than that I continue working in my full time job and annoy the crap out of my team. There is something satisfying about that. No one can get away! What fun!
