A-MYSTERY FRIGHTFUL VOICE WITH NO FEARFUL CHOICE
A short distance from where the music played George suddenly stopped. Tabitha collided with his back, Jenny rebounded off Tabitha and Ben almost fell over Jenny. At the same time there was a noise like material ripping.
‘Jenny I need the invitation,’ George demanded.
‘Here it is George,’ said Jenny passing the invitation to Tabitha who passed it along to George.
‘Erm George is everything okay?’ Jenny asked with concern.
George stumbled on his words. ‘I just feel a bit erm…’
‘Frightened?’ Jenny filled in.
‘No not frightened – rushed! Can we just take a breath? I need to focus and prepare my voice to be A-Mystery.’ He cleared his throat. ‘Hello I am a monster called A-Mystery,’ he repeated in three different voices.
Jenny and Tabitha giggled. ‘The middle one,’ said Tabitha, Jenny and Ben at the same time.
‘Also what is the name of our dance?’ George asked.
The group were silent ‘A-MYSTERY MONSTERY RUMBLE TUMBLE DANCE,’ said Jenny surprising herself with her sudden outburst.
‘That is a pretty cool name isn’t it?’ said Tabitha, pleased that her friend had come up with something on the spur of the moment.
‘What about the music?’ George’s voice cracked with panic.
‘I have it on my phone,’ said Jenny, glad that she had found the music without any actual singing on it.
‘Okay,’ said George sounding as though he was panting. ‘I am so thirsty,’ he said.
‘George don’t drink anything because you are not going to be able to pee,’ Ben cried from the rear.
That was it, Tabitha and Jenny burst into giggles. It was ridiculous the group were in the middle of the forest at night. George was thirsty and might need a pee while Ben was shouting from the glowing posterior of the monster costume. All the while, the music from the Monster Pit seemed to be growing louder. They had two minutes to hit their target time. The group fell silent. The reality of what they were about to do set in. In five minutes time the group were going to be surrounded by monsters. At that moment taking part in the Monsters’ Dance didn’t seem like such a great idea.
